Remodeling and Renovations

Purpose

The purpose of this program is to:

  • Ensure that Twean Construction Company Ltd has filed all applicable local laws and regulations and operate within the framework of these laws and regulations.
  • Ensure uniform and consistent personnel practices in Twean Construction Company Ltd.

Scope

This program covers handling of local laws/regulations and company policy to ensure that the company has up to date copies of the relevant laws/regulations and policies and to provide a mechanism to ensure that any changes to local legislation are communicated in the organization for continuous improvement and for compliance against safety, health and environment

Definitions

HR POLICIES: The Human Resources policies are accepted uniform guiding principles and procedures developed to assist Twean Construction Company Ltd Management in being able to fulfil its obligation of managing and relating with its employees.

Responsibilities and Authority

The EHS Manager and Management Representative or the designated alternative has overall Responsibility for the effectiveness of this program and he/she keeps a copy of all applicable local laws/regulations and company policy.

The Company Lawyers or designated person ensures that all new legislation gazetted and amendments to existing local legislation are summarized in the Legal register

Human Resource Manager has overall administrative responsibility for the HR Policies and ensures that the Implementation of the HR Policies is effective.

Description

When new legislation is enacted or amended, the changes are communicated through the Local Media e.g. Newspapers, Radio, Television, the amended copies are availed in the Government Publications Bookshop and/or NEMA bookshop. The Company Lawyer or designated person deliver the amended copies to the EHS Manager and Management Representative or designated person.

The company lawyers or designated person (Private lawyer) conduct a legal compliance audit for the company to check for compliance in relation to the amended laws after which the Legal Summary is updated.

Non-compliance areas are highlighted and followed up as per the corrective and Preventive action procedure

Copies of these laws and regulations can be viewed in the Management Representative’s office. Documents like Environmental permits, notices of violation, fines/penalties or restitution and related follow up or monitoring are kept by the EHS Manager and Management Representative.

Company Policies

The following requirements have been identified as being crucial for the company’s operations:

  1. Environmental, Health, safety and quality Management Systems,
  2. Local laws and Legislation or (whichever is more stringent).
  3. Company policies can be viewed in the EHS Manager Office

Suggestions for amendments to the existing policy or new policies and the relevant motivation may be forwarded through the HR personnel who shall present the same to the Managing Director for approval.

Records

The respective Departmental Heads and/or supervisors and EHS and Management representative ensure that all records are signed and kept as per Documents and Records Procedure of the company.

Periodic Evaluation

All existing laws and policies will be evaluated at least once a year by a contractor
